How to Apply:

To apply for housing you need to complete a Housing Pathways Application Form.

‘Application forms’ are available on the Housing Pathways website HERE (press the 'Ctrl' key when clicking) or you can attend or contact your local Homes Out West office to receive a copy.

Alternatively, an ‘Application Form’ can be sent to you.

If you require assistance to complete the form, please contact your local office.

Once we receive your application, we will undertake an interview with you to clarify your information.  If you have special needs or are receiving support from another agency, please notify the interviewer when applying.

When your application has been processed, you will be sent a letter notifying you that your application has been approved or denied.

If your application has been denied, this may be due to your status at Housing NSW being closed which will make you ineligible for housing with Homes Out West.  For your status to change to active or live, you will need to contact Housing NSW to address the issue and then notify us of any changes.

If your application has been approved, you will be sent a letter informing you of your priority score and the commencement date to be placed in the wait turn waiting list.

All applications are scored against an ‘Applicant Ranking System’ and given a priority score.  Applicants are then placed in both the wait turn and priority waiting lists.  Allocations to properties are made alternately between the wait turn and priority waiting lists.  It is important to remember that availability of housing is dependent on vacancies and movement within current housing stock.

Matching family make up to the property type and capacity is also used in the allocation process.

You may refuse one offer of housing without affecting your position on the waiting list.  If you refuse a second offer, you will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list.

Applicants and tenants have the right of appeal over any decision made by Homes Out West.  Homes Out West has a clearly documented internal appeal process, which will be explained to you during the application process.

If you are not satisfied by the outcome of the internal appeal process, you can access the NSW Housing Appeals Committee, an independent appeals agency for all NSW social housing clients.
